A frog float in the St. Patrick's Day parade!

A frog float in the St. Patrick’s Day parade!

In case you hadn’t noticed, St. Patrick’s Day is just 27 days away, and in Dublin, Ohio, the city where Irish is an attitude, this holiday is a BIG deal! You see, in 2012, Dublin, Ohio’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade was actually recognized by Orbitz as one of the “Top 10 Spots to Get in the Irish Spirit on St. Patrick’s Day”, and about 20,000 people attend the festivities.

This year, the City of Dublin, Ohio, will hold its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Saturday, March 16. To start your day, have a hearty meal at the Lion’s Club Breakfast at Sells Middle School (food is served from 7 – 11 a.m.). The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Then, head over to Metro Center for an Inflation Celebration (9:30 a.m.) and watch the giant parade balloons come alive before your eyes! Next, get in the groove while listening to the Hooligans. The band will play at the Review Stand on Bridge Street near Indian Run Elementary.  Finally, the self-proclaimed “greenest, grandest parade”, led by the 2013 Grand Leprechaun, Cap Clagg, will kick off at Metro Center and continue through Historic Dublin. The spectacle features more than 100 floats* showing off their Irish attitude!

*To participate in the parade, apply on the City of Dublin website by Friday, February 22.

For more information, including a map of the parade route, road closure information, volunteer form and more, visit the City of Dublin website or call 614-410-4545.

We hope to see you in March! Visit for more things to do in Dublin!

*This is the first of a three part series.

We’re just 10 days into 2013, and hopefully you’re still on track with keeping your New Year’s resolutions. We know it can be tough (research has shown that by the end of January about 40% of people have broken their resolutions), so we’ve happy to share some insider tips on how to maintain some of the most popular resolutions made each year. This first post focuses on how to get healthy. Whether you want to exercise or change you’re diet, there are ways to be successful, and Dublin is full of options.

Get Healthy

1. Stock up at Whole Foods – Whole Foods is known for their organic and natural products. An added bonus? They also  have locally grown produce and offer a variety of cooking classes for all ages and.

2. Go gluten-free – For many, a gluten-free diet is not a choice, but this has become a popular plan for others. Try a gluten-free pizza crust at Mellow Mushroom, gluten-free pasta at Oscar’s, or any of the items on Mezzo or Sunny Street Café’s gluten-free menus.

3. Work out at the Dublin Community Recreation Center – In addition to the 9,000+ square foot fitness center available to those looking to break a sweat, the facility has a number of healthy programs and activities scheduled.

4. Enjoy nature at one of Dublin’s parks – The City of Dublin has a total of 56 beautiful parks complete with walking trails, bike paths and playgrounds. Washington Township’s three parks (The Homestead, Ted Kaltenbach and Amlin Crossing) are other options for exploring the outdoors.

We hope this has been helpful.

*Stay tuned for our next post where we’ll discuss some ideas for those wanting to learn or experience something new this year.
